Arch Patriarch John Stansell and Patriarch Tobias Baughman are the co-founders of St. Benedict Liberty Catholic Church Archdiocese; a free forming church open to all who wish to partake and become members of its tradition. It was the “Church of Interfaith Christians” and the Liberal Catholic Teachings, along with the “Independent Sacramental Movement” that gave this Archdiocese, along with all of its chartered churches, its momentum to become a church that embraces people of diverse, religious, ethnic, and esoteric traditions.
St. Benedict Liberty Catholic Church Archdiocese is not a member of any other Catholic branch but does have Apostolic Lineage within other Catholic sister churches. We encourage using the Liberal Catholic Liturgy with matters and celebrations dealing with Catholic Mass and Holy Orders. We use the formulas close as possible in keeping with the Liberal Catholic Traditions.
We are a mystical church, keeping in mind
the words of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, “Be still and know
that I AM God”. We give primary place to Christ’s teaching, “The kingdom
of God lies within you”. We acknowledge that the greatest advancement
in spiritual truth is made by those who discover that divinity resides
within. If God is love, then it is through our love that we come to a
real and abiding knowledge of God. For Christians, love is spiritual
power par excellence.
Within our members you will find individuals of various backgrounds…Catholic, Essene, Gnostic, Hermetic, Masonic, Templar, Earth-Based and others who wish to celebrate, worship and honor the Divine and its many names. We hold sacred the Scriptures of various world religions and faiths. We hold it sacred the sincere seeker to build that relationship in what moves the spirit within their being. We do promote Christ but yet a Christ of love with many possibilities and ways of living and walking with God/Godess.
